Alexander graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1987. In 1991 he received his PhD in Solid State and Semiconductors Physics. He worked for P.N. Lebedev Physics Institute of Russian Academy of Science. Then he continued his science carrier in Raleigh, NC in North Carolina State University. Since 2004 Alexander is in UW-Madison. He has published more then 100 scientific papers…

He is a chess master (his score was about 2200-2350).
